Welcome

Galerie Nautique is situated in a tastefully restored Victorian warehouse located in the heart of Cork city’s docklands. The gallery houses a large selection of seascapes paintings using watercolour and pastel by local artist Tom Browne. Galerie Nautique has a pleasant relaxing atmosphere where art enthusiasts can browse at their leisure. The gallery also hosts a variety of art from other artists. The gallery is now one of munsters largest galleries with over 3,600sq feet of exhibiting space.
The old Victorian warehouse was originally where Tom together with his son Stanley operated an exclusive stair manufacturing business. This company Design Warehouse has recently re-located to Little Island where Stanley has taken over the running of this business.
Since that move Tom saw the opportunity to turn his life long dream into reality and transformed this Old Victorian Warehouse into his very own stylish chique art gallery.

The Gallery to date

Since the opening of the gallery in December 2007, many artists have approached Tom with a view to displaying their art work.  Hence Tom has decided to display other artists work hosting many exhibitions over the past year.

These include

A presentation of a stunning watercolor of Haulbowline Island to the Irish Naval Base in Haulbowline Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.  This painting was chosen on behalf of the Irish Navy and accepted by Commodore Frank Lynch the Commanding Officer of the Irish Navy and is currently hanging in the wardroom within the naval base in Haulbowline.

Tom’s Christmas card collection hosting a print of The Galley Head Lighthouse by moonlight, the lighthouse where Carmel his wife lived for many years, yielded a generous donation to the R.N.L.I and Marymount Hospice.

An exhibiton was held in May with work from artists Nano Cullition, Rebecca Bradley & Eileen McClean and Tom Browne. The exhibition was opened by TD Deirdre Clune and contributions of proceeds on the night went to Marymount Hospice.

An exhibition was held in Galerie Nautique as part of the Cork Art Trail. Cuig-Creativity Unlimited an integrated group of five artists in residence at Mayfield Community Arts centre held an exhibition of prints in the Gallery where the work was a sell out and all proceeds of sales went to the artists. The centre employs five artists with disabilities under the community services programme. Supported by two art facilitators the 5 artists are training in a wide range wide of arts skills that they can apply to to their own arts practice. The exhibition was part of the annual Cork Art Trail. The trail started at Galerie Nautique where the viewer picked up a map of the trail and followed a poster trail of art work along the riverside to Custom House Quay.
