Born in Cork City in 1952, Tom studied art in the Crawford College of Art and Design taking classes in still life drawing, sculpture and wood carving.
Tom worked in the family furniture design and manufacturing business for five years. After this he started a furniture factory and spent many years in this business, involved in the design and manufacturing of furniture and wood turning.
He recently returned to his first love of art and drawing and now paints in watercolor, his favorite medium. Tom’s paintings concentrate on seascapes, utilizing his intimate knowledge of the sea, to show it in all its various moods.

He has been a competitive swimmer from a very young age and has always been involved with sea Tom has had a keen interest in Scuba Diving for the last 35 years and is also an avid collector of marine artifacts and antiques with a huge collection of prints, ships wheels, ships propellers etc
Tom’s wife Carmel grew up in lighthouses around Ireland all her life where her Father and Grandfather were lighthouse keepers. Since meeting Carmel 32 years ago, Tom has taken a keen interest in Lighthouses, and a great deal of his paintings are of lighthouses from around Ireland.
